What Extra Football Equipment Do I Need to Purchase?

SciCoh provides all of the equipment (helmet, mouthguard, shoulder pads, thigh pads, hip pads, tail pad, knee pads, girdle, and game shirts and pants) for the players.

Players must provide:

  • Football cleats (they must be molded plastic bottom)
  • An athletic supporter and cup
  • Practice football pants
    Practice jersey
  • Optional items: forearm pads, rib pads & hand gloves

For practice pants, we highly recommend the "pad-in" variety. Ask any football mom why their hair turned gray and we are sure that they will blame having to put all seven pads into a pair of regular practice pants, while trying to make the practice drop-off. We recommend the THE GOOD SPORT where they sell for roughly $20.00 per pair.

When you are buying cleats, make sure that they have molded rubber bottoms. During the pre-game weigh-ins, cleats are checked by league officials.

Some players like to wear a Flack Shirt under their shoulder pads for a little extra protection. Made from a wicking-type fabric, they also provide additional warmth, especially when the temperatures drop.

For a better grip on the ball and warmer hands, you can't beat a great pair of gloves.

We would like to thank Cohasset's locally owned and operated, THE GOOD SPORT for providing these photos. If you have any questions regarding cleats, pads, or other pieces of equipment, please feel free to give them a call, 781.383.6550. Austin Lyne and his crew will be happy to help!
