SciCoh Football & Cheer is a 501(c)(3) and volunteer-run organization. To make our seasons run smoothly and be the best experience possible for our Sharks, we rely on volunteers to help in a variety of ways throughout the season.
Blue [Varsity] HOME GAMES: When we host games on our home turf in either Scituate or Cohasset, we are responsible for volunteers to help with a number of things including;
Admissions gate and 50/50 raffle: Two volunteers needed, one to take admissions, one to handle 50/50 raffle until halftime. Report 30 minutes prior to the game.
Merch table: Two volunteers needed to sell merchandise samples during the game. Report 30 minutes prior to the game.
Game announcer: One volunteer needed to announce the game, recordings of special announcements, the national anthem, and instruction book provided. Report 30 minutes prior to game.
Chains/down marker (the best seat in the house!): Three volunteers needed to hold chain markers (down marker, ball marker, 1st down marker) on the field sideline during the game. No football knowledge is necessary! Report 30 minutes prior to the game.
Team parents for each team will provide volunteer sign-up info as we get closer to the season.
White [Junior Varsity] HOME GAMES: We do need as many volunteers for home White [Junior Varsity] Games, but we do need a few positions filled for each game to be played.
Chains/down marker (the best seat in the house!): Three volunteers needed to hold chain markers (down marker, ball marker, 1st down marker) on the field sideline during the game. No football knowledge is necessary! Report 30 minutes prior to the game.
Weigh-In Rep: (see below)
TEAM HELP: For each team throughout the season, we also need:
Weigh-in reps: Oversee the weigh-in procedure for both the home and away teams at every game. This typically occurs roughly 30 minutes before the start of the game and takes just a few minutes. SciCoh provides training for this. Weigh-in reps are needed for Blue [Varsity} and White {Junior Varsity Games. Weigh-in info HERE.
Team parents: Help with communication and organize fun team events, some of which may include an after-practice ice cream night, pizza night, Cheer theme nights, and other fun Sharks team bonding social events. Teams that make it to the Super Bowl have a team breakfast or lunch the day before the Super Bowl Championship game.
Please contact your Football/Cheer Head Coach if you can help as a team parent or weigh-in rep.
CORI FORM: Every Coach and Volunteer must submit a CORI form. Please complete the form and return to our Secretary, Andrea Gillis, at: ajhgillis@gmail.com All info is destroyed once processed and approved.
COACHES: Please consider coaching for our upcoming seasons! Coaching with SciCoh is a very fun and rewarding experience! Coaches play an integral role in every player’s success, confidence, growth as an athlete, and overall experience as a Shark By registering as a SciCoh Football or Cheer Coach, every coach is required to complete the annual USA Football / USA Cheer Training Certification (SciCoh pays for this) and CORI background check. The head coach and at least one Assistant Coach are required to take annual CPR and First Aid Certification (SciCoh pays for this as well). As a SciCoh Sharks Coach, you become a leader, a mentor, and a part of every kid’s memories that they will carry with them for life. You will form new friendships with fellow coaches and families and have endless amounts of fun. When the season comes to an end, you will quickly miss being on the field…trust us!
Please contact SciCoh Football & Cheer via email HERE if you are interested in coaching Football or Cheer.
